With my basketball jersey design, my aim was to add to the
aesthetics whilst maintaining it's practicality. Re- designed for a
female, I chose to crop the jersey and add a net feature on the bottom
half to represent a basketball hoop. This also contributed to the top being more breathable. Whilst researching traditional basketball games, I came
across cheerleaders and thought it be interesting to incorporate their
appearance into the jersey. From there it lead to me sewing weave onto
the bottom hem and tieing the hair into a formation that recreated the
pattern of a net. It turned out really effective.
Fellow BNTL SISTER Lisa did a little review on the workshop and a short interview with me
here.
Big thanks to Sharmadean Reid, Jarret Reynolds, Tarik Fontenelle,
Tremaine Emory, Patternity, Astrid Andersen, Cassette Playa, &
Susie Bubble for putting on an inspiring and thought provoking workshop.
I'd do it all over again.
